This lamp melts a candle from above rather than burning it from the top down. A bulb in the shade throws heat and light onto the wax below, so the pool spreads evenly across the whole jar and the fragrance lifts without a flame, soot or a wick to trim. A dimmer knob on the body sets how hard it works, which doubles as a brightness control, and a timer shuts it off at two, four or eight hours.

Its natural home is a surface where a candle already lives: a console in the hall, a bedside table, a shelf in a home office, the corner of a kitchen bench. It gets more out of the candles you already own, including the ones burnt down past where a wick can reach. In a bedroom the dimmer takes it down to a warm ambient light for the evening, which is more useful than an open flame.

Clearance under the shade is 14 cm, so measure your jar before ordering, since most standard candles fit and tall ones may not. It is for indoor table use only. Wipe the shade once it has cooled. As with any candle, do not leave it warming unattended, and keep it clear of curtains. Vandora sells the practical version of a familiar object.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this replace burning the candle, or use one alongside a flame?

It replaces the flame entirely. A bulb in the shade warms the wax from above, so the fragrance releases and the pool melts evenly without a wick, a flame, or soot. You still use your own candle, just without lighting it.

Will my candle jar fit?

Measure it first: clearance under the shade is 14 cm, which fits most standard candle jars but not unusually tall ones. Check the height of your jar against that figure before ordering. Standard jarred candles are the safest bet.

How does the timer work?

A timer shuts the lamp off automatically after 2, 4, or 8 hours, whichever you set. The same dimmer knob that controls brightness also sets how much heat the bulb puts out, so you can run it gently for a long evening or hotter for a quicker melt.

Is it safe to leave running while I'm out?

No, it should not be left warming unattended, and it needs clearance from curtains, paper, or other flammable material nearby, the same care you would take with any heat source. Use the timer to have it shut off automatically rather than relying on remembering to turn it off. It is for indoor table use only.

How do I clean the shade?

Wipe it once it has fully cooled, never while it is warm. A dry cloth is enough for normal dust and residue. Let it cool completely before handling to avoid marking the shade.
