Cylinder Pendant Light

Walnut and brushed brass meet in a short cylinder, 15 cm across and 20 cm deep, with the wood forming the outer sleeve and the brass showing as a band at the top. Light leaves the open base and almost nowhere else, so the beam falls in a tight circle rather than spilling sideways. The walnut grain darkens where the brass touches it. Acrylic diffuses the LED behind the opening, which takes the hard edge off the pool of light without widening it much.

A narrow throw like this is made for surfaces. Hung 70 to 80 cm above a dining table it lights plates and leaves faces in softer light, which is what makes a meal feel unhurried. Two or three in a row over a kitchen counter cover the working length without a strip fitting. Single, above a bedside table or in the well of a stairwell, it becomes a quiet marker. It suits rooms with plain walls and natural materials, where the walnut has something to answer to.
