White or black, flat, and no deeper than it needs to be, this disc holds a warm white LED behind a diffused face and a magnetic mount behind that. There is no cable and no fitting to cut into the wall. The face responds to touch for dimming, and a motion sensor brings the light on when someone passes. Both the body and the mounting plate sit close enough to the wall to read as built in.

The obvious places are the ones wiring never reached. Top and bottom of a staircase, inside a deep closet, along a basement corridor, above a bed in a rental where drilling is off the table. The magnetic mount lifts the light off in one movement, so it doubles as a handheld when you need to look behind something. Two or three along a hallway cover a night route end to end.

It runs on batteries and mounts without wiring, in white or black. Touch the face to dim it, or leave it in sensor mode and it handles itself. Lift it off the magnetic mount to change batteries rather than working overhead with your arms raised. Vandora has a soft spot for fittings that solve a problem without an electrician, and this is the clearest example in the range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it need any wiring?

No. It runs on batteries and attaches with a magnetic mount, so there is nothing to wire in and no cutting into the wall. That makes it suited to rentals or anywhere drilling is not an option.

How do I change the batteries?

Lift the light off its magnetic mounting plate, which comes away in one movement, and change the batteries with the light in hand. There is no need to work overhead with your arms raised, since the plate stays fixed to the wall while the light comes down.

What is the difference between touch dimming and the motion sensor?

Touch the face to dim the light to whatever level you want it to hold. Switch it to sensor mode instead and it comes on by itself when someone passes, then goes off again, which suits a route you walk in the dark rather than a spot you sit near.

Where should I put it?

Anywhere wiring never reached: the top or bottom of a staircase, inside a deep closet, along a basement corridor, or above a bed in a rental. Two or three spaced along a hallway cover a night route from end to end.

Which colour should I choose, white or black?

White sits close to most wall colours and disappears in daylight, while black reads as a deliberate fixture against a lighter wall. Either way the magnetic mount and face are the same, so the choice is only about how visible you want it to be when it is off.
