No wiring and no drilling. The LumiBlock is a flat rectangle, 16 cm long and 3.3 cm deep, that holds its own 4000mAh battery and sticks to a wall with adhesive or sits on a magnetic plate. The face is finished in wood grain in four options, two plain and two figured, and the light leaves through a narrow band rather than the whole panel. A tap cycles warm white, natural white and cold white; a long press dims it steplessly from five percent to full.
Because nothing has to be chased into the plaster, it goes where a hardwired fitting cannot. Renters use it beside a bed, at the head of a staircase, or along a corridor with no outlet. It is also the fixture for a shelf recess or the inside of a wardrobe, where the flat back sits tight and the low profile clears a door. Take it off the plate and it works as a handheld light, which is a fair reason to keep one near the stairs.
Charging runs over USB-C at 5V/1A, and the low setting stretches a charge a long way if you only need a night light. Clean the face with a dry cloth and avoid wet rooms. Vandora chose it for the same reason most people buy it: the wall you want lit is rarely the wall that has wiring in it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to drill or wire it in?
No. It sticks to a wall with adhesive or sits on a magnetic plate, so nothing gets chased into the plaster. That makes it a fixture renters can use beside a bed or at the head of a staircase without asking a landlord.
How do I change the light colour or dim it?
A tap cycles through warm white, natural white and cold white, and a long press dims it steplessly from five percent to full. Both controls are on the face of the panel itself.
Can I use it as a handheld light too?
Yes, take it off the magnetic plate and it works as a handheld light, which is a fair reason to keep one mounted near the stairs. The adhesive-mounted case colours don't have that magnetic option, so choose the magnetic plate if portability matters to you.
Where does it work best?
Anywhere a hardwired fitting can't go: beside a bed, at the head of a staircase, along a corridor with no outlet, or inside a wardrobe or shelf recess, where the flat back sits tight and the low profile clears a door.
How do I charge it?
Over USB-C at 5V/1A, from its built-in 4000mAh battery. The low setting stretches a single charge a long way if you're mainly using it as a night light.
