Frosted Globe Wall Sconce

Polished metal, a frosted ivory globe, and very little else. The backplate carries a short arm forward and the glass sits on top of it, sanded on the inside so the bulb never shows as a filament. What comes out is even and slightly creamy, with no hot centre, and the polished finish picks up a thin reflection of that same light along the arm. The fitting measures 32 cm wide, 21.5 cm tall and 12 cm deep, which puts it in the middle of the range for a wall light.

Frosted glass is the reason to put this one near a mirror. Beside a bathroom vanity or a dressing table, a diffused source lights a face evenly instead of carving shadows under the eyes, and a pair either side does it better than one above. In a bedroom it sits at bedside height without glare. Along a hallway the ivory tone keeps white walls from looking clinical, which is the usual complaint about wall lights in a corridor.

It takes a G9 bulb, not included, and runs on 110 to 240V through a hardwired connection with the mounting hardware supplied. Keep it to dry indoor locations.
