Metal domes nest one inside another and hang suspended within an outer ring, so the fixture has depth from every angle instead of presenting a single silhouette. The layers are staggered, which means light leaves through the gaps between them as well as through the open base, and the ring throws a clean circular shadow on the ceiling above. Two diameters are made, 28 cm and 38 cm, both 30 cm tall, in matte black, soft white or brushed gold.
The larger size is a centrepiece and should be treated as one: over a dining table, over a kitchen island, or alone in a stairwell where it can be seen from two floors. The smaller works in a bedroom above a nightstand or in a pair over a breakfast bar. Because the layers break the light up, the room underneath gets a softer spread than a solid shade gives, which suits a table people sit around for a while.
The cable adjusts to 1.5 m and the fitting takes an E27 bulb, not supplied, at 110 to 240V; a warm filament LED shows the layered edges best.
