Powder-coated aluminium forms a short cylinder, capped with solid wood where the cord enters. The shade is open at the bottom and closed everywhere else, which means the beam goes straight down in a tight column while the room around it stays dim. The wood is left with its grain showing and warms the whole fitting; without it the shape would read as industrial. Several colourways are made, and the tone changes the character more than the form does.
Hang it low. Over a kitchen island a row of three puts light exactly on the chopping surface and nowhere near your eyes. Over a small dining table, one is enough. In a bedroom, dropped beside the headboard at reading height, it does the job of a wall light without cutting into the wall. Cafes use them in rows for the same reason: they light the table, not the room.
The shade is 11 cm across and 12 cm deep, the ceiling plate matches at 12 cm, and the cord adjusts between 100 and 120 cm. It is hardwired, not dimmable, and rated for dry locations only, so keep it out of bathrooms. One E26 bulb, not included. Vandora favours fittings that read as considered from below, which is the only angle that matters on a pendant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the light spread across the room or stay focused?
It stays focused. The shade is open only at the bottom, so the beam goes straight down in a tight column while the room around it stays dim. That is why it works well hung low and directly over a surface, like a chopping bench or a dining table, rather than as general room light.
How low should I hang it?
Hang it low, close to reading or working height. Over a kitchen island, a row of three at that height puts light exactly on the chopping surface and nowhere near your eyes. The cord adjusts between 100 and 120 cm, so you can set the exact drop for your ceiling.
Can I use this in a bathroom?
No, it is rated for dry locations only, so keep it out of bathrooms. It suits a kitchen, dining area, or bedroom instead.
Can I dim it?
No, it is not dimmable, so it runs at one fixed brightness once wired in. If you want adjustable light, plan for a separate fixture, but as a fixed downlight it does its job well.
What bulb does it take?
It takes one E26 bulb, not included, so you choose the warmth and brightness yourself. Since the light is meant to be tightly focused, a clear or lightly frosted bulb both work well.
