A candle poured into a pumpkin-shaped vessel rather than a plain jar — the ribs are moulded into the body, so the form reads as a gourd from across a room and the wax sits down inside it rather than standing proud. It is sized and shaped for a table centre or a mantel, and it works as an object before it is ever lit. Once burned down the vessel is worth keeping — it takes a tealight, or a few short stems.
Burn it for no more than four hours at a time, trim the wick to about 5 mm before each lighting, and never leave it unattended or within reach of children and pets.
