Fourteen centimetres across and only eight deep, the Solaria is a shallow metal cylinder with a tinted glass face in amber, smoke grey or white. The glass is coloured rather than clear, so the integrated LED reads as a lit disc instead of a bright point. Three colour temperatures are built in, warm at 3000K, neutral at 4000K and cool at 6000K, and switching between them alters the character of the fitting more than its brightness.

Small and shallow, it goes where a deeper sconce would be in the way: a narrow hallway, the wall beside a doorframe, the gap between a bed and a corner. In a living room, mounted in a line of three, the tinted faces read as a row of discs by day and a row of glows at night. Amber suits rooms with warm timber in them; smoke grey sits better against grey and concrete.

It draws a maximum of 9W, runs at AC 220V and mounts to the wall for indoor use, with an installation guide included. Choose the colour temperature to suit the room rather than the fitting, since cool light will push the amber glass toward green. Vandora prefers a fitting that offers one good decision over ten small adjustments, and the three-way switch is that decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which glass colour should I choose?

Amber suits rooms with warm timber already in them, while smoke grey sits better against grey or concrete surfaces. White is the neutral option if the wall itself is doing the talking. All three are the same shallow metal cylinder, so the decision is about colour rather than shape.

Can I change the colour temperature?

Yes, three settings are built in: warm at 3000K, neutral at 4000K and cool at 6000K. Switching between them changes the character of the fitting more than its brightness.

Will the amber glass still look amber on the cool setting?

Not quite. Cool light pushes the amber glass toward green, so it is worth choosing the colour temperature to suit the room rather than the fitting itself. Warm or neutral settings keep the amber reading true.

Will it fit in a narrow hallway?

It's built for exactly that. At 14 cm across and only 8 cm deep, it fits a narrow hallway, the wall beside a doorframe, or a tight gap between a bed and a corner without projecting far off the wall.

Is it difficult to install?

It mounts to the wall for indoor use with an installation guide included in the box, so no special expertise is assumed. It runs at AC 220V and draws a maximum of 9W.
