Poured cement gives this pendant its weight and its surface, faintly porous, slightly uneven, grey where it is not finished black. Below the cement body sits a perforated mesh shade, so light escapes through the pattern as well as the open bottom. The result is a bright pool underneath and a soft speckle on the ceiling and walls around it. It is heavy at 3 kg, which is worth knowing before you drill.

Concrete pendants belong over hard surfaces. Above a kitchen island the narrow models cluster well, and three of the 6 cm bodies in a row read as one fixture. Over a dining table, one of the wider models does the job alone. In a bedroom, a single narrow pendant on one side replaces a table lamp and gives the nightstand back. The mesh keeps glare down at seated eye level.

Six sizes run from a 6 cm slim cylinder to a 25 cm wide shade, so you can mix scales in one room. Cord length is 150 cm and the socket takes an E26 or E27 bulb up to 40 W, where an Edison filament suits the material and an LED keeps it cooler. Ceiling mount, indoor only. Vandora buys for rooms that get used hard.

Frequently Asked Questions

How heavy is it, and does that matter for installation?

Yes, it is worth knowing before you drill. The pendant weighs 3 kg, so the ceiling mount needs to be fixed into something solid rather than plasterboard alone. Once it is properly anchored, the weight is not an ongoing concern.

Which size should I choose?

Six sizes run from a slim 6 cm cylinder up to a wide 25 cm shade, and they are built to mix. Narrow models cluster well in a row of three above a kitchen island, while one of the wider shades can do the job alone over a dining table. A single narrow pendant also works well beside a bed in place of a table lamp.

What bulb does it take, and how bright can it be?

The socket takes an E26 or E27 bulb up to 40 W, not included. An Edison filament suits the cement finish and its texture, while an LED keeps the fixture cooler to the touch. Either way, the perforated mesh shade lets light escape through the pattern as well as from the open bottom, so it never feels harsh at seated eye level.

Can this go outside?

No, it is rated for indoor use only. The concrete body can take daily use inside the home, but it is not built to handle outdoor weather.

Grey or black finish, and does the surface stay even?

Both finishes are poured cement, so expect a faintly porous, slightly uneven surface rather than a smooth factory finish, that texture is part of the material. Grey keeps the raw concrete look, while black reads more finished. Either suits a room with other hard surfaces, like a kitchen or dining area.
